What seemed like a strangely lingering terrible cold turned out to be something far, far worse. I flew down to help for several weeks as she dealt with surgery, hospitalizations, oncology appointments, and treatment options.
We were all able to spend Christmas down there, which was wonderful. As of now, she is holding steady, and we are praying that the treatments work.
a short-lived dusting of snow in November |
Here in Massachusetts it's been a strange winter, with bitter cold alternating with warmer temperatures and rain. What little snow we've gotten has melted off quickly, and a precocious snowdrop has even decided it's time to bloom! I don't dare predict a mild winter though - the last time we had such a January, we ended up with record amounts of snow in February.
I wish everyone a wonderful and hopeful 2019,
and as always, happy gardening.
