Ephemeral: lasting a very short time; short-lived; transitory
Today's 'Word for Wednesday' over at Garden Walk, Garden Talk is ephemeral.
Gardens are always in transition. Many flowers and plants are short-lived. Annuals grow, bloom, then go to seed and die.
However, the most meaningful ephemeral moments that take place in my garden involve growing things of a different sort.
There are two little sprouts growing at the Red House.
Children grow and change so fast. Before long our little sprouts will be all grown and off to find gardens of their own.
May we enjoy these fleeting moments while we can.
They are all too ephemeral.
that is a lovely twist, and your ephemerals are so active.
ReplyDeleteAnd oh too quick - blinked and mine grew up and left home!
ReplyDeleteSo very true! Yours are adorable!
ReplyDeleteAnother unique look at the word, but not to any mother who is blinking as change in time and kids go hand in hand. Your sprouts are so cute and I bet you take loads of images for that slice of time to save for all time. Thanks for throwing in the hat on the word ephemeral.
ReplyDeleteCouldn't agree more. So, we should enjoy while we can.
ReplyDeleteOh, so very, very true! Especially when they move out of the nest, and then you wonder what happened to those little sprouts you so lovingly nurtured!?
ReplyDeleteI caught up with your older posts, too, and thank you so much for the fave, also. I have so much to learn about photography, and the hints you posted were very helpful. Keep photographing the little ones, and especially even when they grow older, for then they become more camera-shy, which is a shame...it is wonderful to document their growing up, even when they're teenagers and say, "Oh, MOM!"
Our lives do seem to pass by so quickly, and we can never get those ephemeral moments back. You have described this so well...great way to illustrate the word, ephemeral!
ReplyDeleteLove your cute little sprouts! They are just gorgeous. Those fall leaves are beautiful too. We don't have fall here so I really admire yours.
ReplyDeleteSo true! I hope you enjoy them every day!
ReplyDeleteLittle sprouts grow so fast to be tall seedlings and they will give forth lovely blossoms. Yeah, we need to capture these moments before the transformations. I too would like to sit/sleep on the bed of yellow leaves and enjoy the time.
ReplyDeleteSuch beautiful words and the best pictures are of your sprouts...time passing so quickly...
ReplyDeleteI was just talking to my mom a little while ago. She still thinks I'm a cute little thing even though I'm nearly half a century old. Your mom probably sees you the same way. I look at my girls all grown up now and see the adorable toddlers they once were. Our lives are ephemeral, but, thankfully memory is not. Thank you for sharing the photos of your precious children!
ReplyDeletealoha,
ReplyDeletethis was very sweet, thanks for sharing
I think my little sprouts have grown taller even in the last week! I actually have my fancy camera for taking garden pics because we bought it for taking good indoor photos of the kids (yes, Mr. Red House, you were right about getting the camera).
ReplyDeleteI look back at all the baby pics and wonder where the time has gone. It just goes so fast! All I can do is enjoy the moments we have now.
